2019… - “Prince“ Andrew and the Epstein scandal

The association between Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein became one of the most damaging controversies faced by the modern Royal Family.
Questions about their relationship intensified after allegations emerged that Andrew had sexually abused a woman when she was underage named Virginia Giuffre.

Prince Andrew has consistently denied the allegations.

In 2019, Andrew gave a televised interview to the BBC in an attempt to address the controversy.
The interview was widely regarded as unsuccessful and attracted substantial public criticism.

As pressure mounted, Andrew withdrew from public duties and was later stripped of his military titles and royal patronages
In 2022, a civil lawsuit brought against him was settled out of court, although no admission of liability was made. The case continued to generate significant media attention and further damaged public confidence in the monarchy.

Jeffrey Epstein

Jeffrey Epstein was an American financier who became known for serious sex crime cases involving underage girls.

He was first convicted in 2008 in Florida after accusations of sexual abuse, which resulted in a controversial plea deal and a short prison sentence.
Years later, new investigations led to his arrest in 2019 on federal charges of sex trafficking of minors.

Before he could go to trial, he died in a jail cell in New York in 2019. His death was officially ruled a suicide, though it led to widespread public discussion and many questions.

The case gained global attention not only because of the crimes themselves, but also because of his connections to many influential and well-known people.
